Understand: PayPal vs. Stripe

Compare PayPal and Stripe side-by-side and choose how to receive the money you raise.

Before you can launch your first fundraising Experience on RallyUp, you’ll be asked to connect either a PayPal or Stripe account. Both allow you to securely receive funds as they’re raised with little to no holding period, but there are some key differences.

PayPal

Stripe

  • Payment processing fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. These rates may change depending on your circumstances. Contact Stripe’s customer success team to confirm your fee rates.
  • Discount for registered US 501(c)(3)s: Commonly 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction. Contact Stripe to confirm.
  • International fees: Vary by country.
  • Countries supported: 46+
  • Currencies supported: 135+
  • Payout time: Depends on your payout schedule.
  • Donor payment options for RallyUp site: Debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay.

Good to Know

  • You can change the way you receive funds at any time. Any changes will be applied to all active Experiences on your account.
  • If your Experience is already active, only new donations will go to the new account. You’ll still have access to all previous donations in the old account.
