Understand: Receipts vs. Transaction Confirmations

Learn how receipts differ from transaction confirmations based on the information they contain.

If you're running an A-Thon or Auction on RallyUp, you may note that the View Donations* page lets you view both receipts and transaction confirmations:

How-to: Export Donation and Donor Reports

Receipts show all credit card charges that were made during a specific transaction, like Raffle entry or Store item purchases. Transaction confirmations show all transaction activity, even those that are not associated with immediate credit card charges, like A-Thon pledges or Auction bids.

Example

Imagine that a donor is enthusiastic about a cause and excited to participate in all the Fundraising Activities available. The donor purchases a Raffle entry and a Store item, bids on an Auction item, and makes an A-Thon pledge.

In this scenario, their receipt would show:

  • The Raffle entry purchase
  • The Store item purchase

Their transaction confirmation would include:

  • The Raffle entry purchase
  • The Store item purchase
  • The A-Thon pledge
  • The Auction bid

Later, when the A-Thon has ended, the donor will receive a receipt for the final A-Thon pledge amount. If they win the Auction item, they will receive a receipt for the final Auction bid amount.
