Why Am I Not Allowed to Create a Raffle Fundraiser?
In the U.S., raffles are subject to federal and state regulations. If you are unable to select “raffle” as your type of fundraiser on RallyUp, it is due to one of the following reasons:
- Your organization is in the US and is not a federally tax-exempt 501(c) organization.
- Your organization is a registered 501(c) organization but is located in one of the following states which prohibit online raffles:
- Alabama
- California
- Hawaii
- Kansas
- Utah
- Washington
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- New Jersey
- Wisconsin
- Indiana
- Montana
(*Montana prohibits raffle ticket purchases by credit card, so Montana organizations cannot run raffles on RallyUp.)
If you have only recently been granted your 501(c) status, it’s also possible that your organization may not be in our database yet. In this case, please contact us.
