Understand: Google Analytics

Learn how Google Analytics can help you track supporter behavior.

Google Analytics is a tracking tool that can provide insights into supporter behaviors when they visit your Experience Page. You can add Google Analytics to your Experiences to:

  • View real-time information about how many users are on your Experience Pages at any given moment
  • Analyze the demographics (age, gender, location, etc.) of users who visit your Experiences
  • Understand user behavior including session duration and bounce rates (how many viewers leave your Experience after viewing only one page)
  • Track the source of traffic (e.g., if they came from a social media link)

Google Analytics will also record whenever the following occurs on any RallyUp Experience:

  • An item is viewed
  • An item is added to a cart
  • Someone begins the checkout process
  • A purchase is completed

These insights can help you determine where you may need to strengthen your Experience advertising efforts. For instance, you can use different platforms to target different age groups, geographic locations, and other communities.

You can learn more about Google Analytics on their website

Create a Google Analytics Account

  1. Open Google Analytics in a web browser.
  2. Log in with an existing Google account (i.e., your Gmail account), or create a new one.
  3. Select Sign Up. (If you don't see a "Sign Up" button, you may already be using Google Analytics. You can follow these instructions to add a Google Analytics account to manage separate data.)
  4. Select Website and fill in the required information.
  5. Select Get Google tag ID.
  6. After accepting the terms of service, you'll see a page with information about how to add tracking to your website. The only thing you'll need from this page is the Google tag ID.

Add Google Analytics Integration

Once you have a Google Analytics account and a Google tag ID, you can integrate your Google Analytics account with your RallyUp account:

  1. Go to Settings in the left menu and select Integrations.
  2. Scroll down to Analytics Integrations and find Google Analytics
  3. Select View integration. This will make a pop-up appear:

  1. Click on the toggle next to Add Google Analytics to track supporter behavior on donor-facing pages and get insights.
  2. Enter the Google tag ID (also known as Tracking ID) for your Google Analytics account. You can also add your Measurement Protocol API secret key, if you like, but it isn't necessary.
  3. Select Save.
