How-to: Run a Pledge Campaign but Take Only One-Time Donations

Discover the differences between an A-Thon and Peer-to-Peer Crowdfunding.

RallyUp uses the term “pledge” to refer to a per-unit-of-activity donation credited to an A-Thon Participant* or Team*:

However, a “pledge” is also often used to refer to one-time or recurring donations credited to Peer-to-Peer Participants or Teams:

If you only want your Campaign Participants and/or Teams to get credit for one-time donations, we suggest enabling Peer-to-Peer on a Crowdfunding Campaign instead of adding an A-Thon:

Peer-to-Peer vs. A-Thons

Peer-to-Peer fundraising is similar to but not quite the same as an A-Thon. Both allow supporters to help you fundraise, but in different ways:

  • Peer-to-Peer: Supporters sign up as participants to help spread the word about your fundraiser. When someone makes a donation or purchase, they can credit the participant that sent them to your fundraiser
  • A-Thons: Supporters sign up to complete units of a specific activity (e.g., walking laps) and earn donations for each unit completed (e.g., someone pledges one dollar for each lap their friend walks)

Understand: Charity A-Thons

*Terminology may differ according to Campaign settings.
